Sunday reads: Oil, David Chang, Money & Your Spawn
Happy long weekend!
Dave and I are in Washington, DC being bemused and delighted tourists. My coffee mug clinks yours, metaphorically speaking. READING TIME.
How oil got into everything: This is the best story from Planet Money, one of my favourite podcasts. You might say that this sounds really nerdy. Correct! But I am of the persuasion that knowing the historical context for what is happening now is useful. With this show, I implore you to: "Today on the show, we meet one chemist who helped put oil into everything — and another chemist who's trying to get it out."

Part four of NPR's Planet Money commodity series on oil.
I forgot how badass Venus Williams is: And this NYT profile reminded me.

Having a kid is more or less equivalent to lighting cash on fire: I got this really useful article from WealthSimple, where I have an RRSP and TFSA, on how to make sure your spawn don't take you for everything you're worth. Their newsletter is really nice, I recommend subscribing even if you don't invest with them.
David Chang is a beast and I enjoyed reading about how he thinks about making successful food: The difference between how food shows up in your mouth versus in your memory.
