November is among the coziest months because you feel excited about creating warmth in your life, but the sun still shines a little bit and the snow is novel. Unlike March where the snow has way outstayed its welcome and you can feel the faint sun giggling at you from its tropical vacation. F@#k you, March sun.
Naturally, I have been making stews and soups, and Pinch of Yum is among the best places on the internet for ideas. This week I made their Crockpot chicken gnocchi soup and their 5 Ingredient chicken tikka masala for my husband and in-laws. Both big wins. Both super easy. And cozy, November style.
One of the things I like most about their recipes is that the measurements are really suggestions, with the exception of the baking recipes. It saves time when you can eyeball most things.
I think James Hamblin is an excellent health reporter. He's a young, American version of Andre Picard with more zazzle and cool. And he's also a doctor.
Cup of Jo's Joanna Goddard has a very funny crush on him, and this video on why you should nap at work is mostly why: "We should sleep together, as a nation" - Dr. James Hamblin
So I have never read Harper Lee's great American novel To Kill a Mockingbird. I know. Most English speaking humans have. But I am listening to the audiobook now, narrated by Sissy Spacek, on Audible. So now I know why everyone considers it a classic. It's incredible. Do yourself a favour and take a read or a listen. You can sign up for Audible and get the book for free. Or you can buy at your local bookseller. Or you can buy using Amazon link here and I will get a small affiliate fee to support the blog.
