Woman on Mission: Edoye Porbeni and Radical Self-Respect

I was on a Facebook hiatus from September 2014 to March 2015.  One of the treats of returning to social media was learning about the new personal journey of my grad school friend, Edoye Porbeni.   Edoye has been posting such inspiring personal perspectives about her wellness process, known as Operation 8 Frame. After a few months, I decided to catch up with Edoye and learn more about O8F.  Our conversation was 20 minutes of good stuff and you can listen to it right here.

Calling it Operation 8 Frame is kind of like paying homage to the house that carries me through life

I try to eat foods and love foods that love me back

Living in the part of the world where I do, and all of us being bombarded with media images of what the ideal is supposed to look like, I am nowhere close to it. And was born nowhere close to the ideal. And it has taken me a long time to learn how to love my less than ideal self, according to the media.

Food is wonderful. Food is not the enemy...People should change their mind about what they are willing to invest in food.
— Edoye Porbeni

I just want to go outside and move after talking to Edoye.  And I hope you do too!

Edoye trains with Derek Wiseman at Thrive Fitness & Health.  They train together twice per week and Edoye loves that Derek trains her like the athlete she is.
